Sorry, I've been MIA. I was on vacation in Puerto Rico =)
Look what I found! Part of the ad campaign for Spring/Summer 2009, Gucci. This is really creative...
Instead of that boring ol' black ribbon, the ribbon on their hat matches the tank top! You can easily replicate this, buy one of those straw hats from forever 21 like the one below and then pair your own ribbon on it. You can even switch the ribbon or mix and match! Have fun with it. ok back to work...=)

Nike Running Shoes
I've been looking for a pair of decent casual sneakers and I finally found them today. Got them at Macy's for...are you ready for this...$30! It was originally $60 with a 25% off. They didn't have a new pair in my size so they took 10% off of the display that I got. Honestly, it was as good as new. The sales associate scanned the $10 off of $30 coupon for me. I swear there were so many discounts stacked up against one another, I couldn't even keep track! Anyways, here's how it looks like:

Shiseido - Face Wash
If I can only have one skincare product in the world, it would definitely have to be a cleanser. A very specific cleanser at that...I've tried all kinds of cleanser ranging from drug store quality (neutrogena, clean and clear) to pretty pricey ones (dior) but nothing comes close to my dear Shiseido purifying cleansing foam. I have the oiliest face in life and this thing i swear to god leaves my face feeling clean and fresh. It has the microbeads to softly exfoliate your skin. Anyways, enough said. Best facewash ever invented. Shiseido should pay me for raving about this product.

Purse Craze - a somewhat worth it one
I don't know what is up with all the purse craze. $2000+ for a Chanel flap bag, a Bottega Veneta woven basket tote for $3000+, a Stella McCartney gem clutch for $1000. Ok, you get the picture. Not sure what exactly I'm seeking if I am paying THAT much for a purse? Design, I think not. Anything with a "Chloe" stamped on there essentially equals "good design". Craftsmanship, I think not. For that much I better get top notch leather and perfection tailoring. Status, that might be the answer. The price tag can definitely signify who you are --- and by who, I'm not talking about personality; I am talking about status symbol.
Anyways, as much as I want to be in on this purse craze, I really don't think it's a hobby I should be getting myself into. If you feel the same way. Settle for less, like the one below.
The slouchy, laid-back shape will keep it's style for a long time. If it's Burberry then I'm pretty confident to make the conclusion that this purse is made of luxurious leather. What I like is that the brand is not too visible and in your face. Completely in-line with the the best style tip --- subtlety.

Gilt Group
I am SOOO hooked on Gilt.com. It's a website that features several designer sales each day. They set a time cap on a sale. The stuff runs out super quick. The time cap usually starts at 12PM EST and when I log on at 9:05 PST, there will be items that are sold out already. For example, last week they had a MJ purse sale. What usually goes for $1200 (very similar to the stam) was on sale for $650. The gilt website can explain themselves better...so take a look.
Invitation Only Shopping
Gilt Groupe provides access, by invitation only, to Men’s, Women’s and Children’s coveted fashion and luxury brands at prices up to 70% off retail. Each sale lasts 36 hours and features hand selected styles from a single designer.
First Come, First Served
All sales take place only on www.gilt.com and our full collection of merchandise is always available at the start of the sale, so be sure to log on early.

Young Adult Obesity Issues
This morning I was on Bart reading last week’s Newsweek. I love the quotes and cartoon section. I usually have the following reactions: “that’s so funny”, “WOW---very inspirational” or “this person is stupid but I’m over it”. However, this week I saw a quote that I just can not help but be a little upset about.
“We’re on the Titantic and, rather than forcing our children into the lifeboat, we’re telling them to join the band.”
MeMe Roth, president of National Action against Obesity, on new clothing lines aimed at plus-size teenage girls from retailers Target and Forever 21.
It’s one thing to be an advocate for obesity but it’s another if you are leveraging on this social problem to create consumption. To me, no matter how you spin it that quote is telling me that retailers want to make more money out of teenagers so they are extending their product offerings to a new group. It is problematic for that quote to be coming from the president of a nonprofit organization aimed to protect against obesity because she is utilizing her power to advertise for this new product offering. This message is saying to youth: If you want to “fit in”, now you are free to be like all the “other girls” and shop at Target and Forever21 (something you couldn't have done before). That brings me to another point, that statement is clearly singling out the obese population saying that before this line started, plus-size teenage girls could not stop at retailers like Target and Forever21. So in order to make them “assimilate” we need to create a separate line calling out that THIS SECTION IS FOR PLUS-SIZE girls.
That quote bugged me so much I just had to do a quick research on this woman. So it turns out, she has made other quiet disturbing comments in the past as well aiming to “address obesity problems in youth”.
"When I look at Jordin I see diabetes, I see heart disease, I see high cholesterol. That's what's so sad about this - she is not the vision of health - she is the vision of 'unhealth'. Her extra weight is a reflection of today's society and a culture where many of our children have compromised health due to unhealthful food choices and inactivity ... We have to stop with the 'baby fat,' 'curvy,' 'goddess' euphemisms and own this child health crisis."
That statement is so problematic on EVERY level… I don’t even want to try and start dissecting it into sections and commenting on it.

Leather Bomber Jacket
This moto jacket is the ideal design (other than the fact that it's not real leather)... that snap collar, zipper cuffs, light brown...everything about it is so Serena van der Woodsen.
